Artist Statement:

I have been artistic all my life, drawing and painting. In 2008 I was introduced to the art of making jewelry.  I am a self-taught wire wrap artist, striving to find new ways and techniques to express my ideas and feelings for the beauty I see in each stone I wrap. The art of wire wrapping involves using precious and semi-precious metal wire and the most basic tools to capture a stone without the use of solder or glue.

I started off with the basics of wire wrapping a bead which lead, in a round about way, to the intricate wire wrapping and wire weaving I do today.  Modern tools and materials have allowed artists to become extremely creative in the pairing of wire and stone. I am constantly looking for new ways and techniques to frame each stone.

I work with fossils, minerals and semi-precious stones from around the world using either sterling silver or copper wire to frame the beauty of each stone. I select the stones I use based on their pattern and color. Creating a piece of jewelry is an outlet for my creativity, transforming it into a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art with a unique, intricate, yet delicate design.
