I studied drawing with Charlotte Turner and Randy Michener at NVCC, and went on to teach beginning drawing classes for the Office of Continuing Education, NVCC at the Manassas and Woodbridge campuses from the mid 1990’s through 2002. My recent work has been shown in several shows in northern Virginia, including Oatlands, Burwell-Morgan Mill, Piedmont Regional Art Show (formerly the Plains Neighborhood Art Show, and the Friends of Bluemont Art Show.
As an artist I try to share the beauty and grace I see in nature or in ordinary life. I seldom depict grand, iconic subjects, preferring the chance beauty of the everyday. Representation, but not necessarily realism, prevails in my work. I make collages in a painterly style using various types of papers, including exotic handmade papers, colored tissue, magazine and newspaper scraps and flattened wasp nests. All my collages are finished with several layers of matte media for protection, and most are also under glass.
