Susan Breen, resident of Ashburn, Virginia, is a digital artist and an award winning photographer. She lived and worked abroad for over 16 years which gave her the opportunity to photograph various parts of the world mainly in Europe and Asia.
In 2008, upon her final return to Virginia from overseas, Susan became an active member of the Northern Virginia Photographic Society (NVPS). She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the NVPS Awards of “Photographer of the Year” for 2009 and 2010.
Since 2008, her photographs have been for sale exclusively at the Hermitage Design and Gallery in McLean, VA and in a federal government agency’s gift shop. Arts in the Village Gallery is a welcome addition to this list.
I’ve turned my fondness for photography into a passion for developing fine art digital paintings from the photographs I take. With the use of digital technology, I developed a technique for my photographs that identify the individuality of my work as I thrive to capture the spirit of Watercolor and Impressionist painters in my digital art. Using a computer, tablet and stylus, the creation process for each painting involves simulating the actual painting process with electronic tools for virtual paper, pigment, brushes, water, and texture, working layer by layer while generating multiple clone sources. It is a long process but a rewarding one.
