Become a member artist of our successful cooperative gallery
Founded in 2012, Arts in the Village Gallery serves the highly mobile and art-savvy Northern Virginia communities in Loudoun and Fairfax counties and beyond. Run as a program of the Loudoun Arts Council, this is one of the largest and most active cooperative galleries in the area. Our location at The Village at Leesburg offers an excellent sales location for art with restaurants and bars, a movie theater, retail shops, apartments and offices, all bringing in customers from around the area.
Being an artist member of this exciting cooperative provides much more than an opportunity to show and sell your work. Member artists connect with art collectors during both Gallery and Village at Leesburg events, as well as grow professionally by being a part of an active artist network and helping to manage all aspects of gallery life. Gallery artists have the opportunity to participate in our monthly exhibits which include a mix of group shows and Featured Artists exhibits. Our artists also benefit from our regular print, online and social media marketing campaigns that reach art dealers, designers, and potential customers across the local area, as well as the greater Washington D.C. region.
Unlike traditional galleries, our co-op structure enables member artists to have a dedicated space to exhibit their work year-round. The Village at Leesburg supports the arts by providing us with affordable retail space To cover the operating expenses of the gallery, member artists pay a $75 monthly fee and a small 5% commission on sales. Member artists also volunteer their time to staff and operate the gallery 7 days a week, providing them direct exposure to art buyers and the opportunity to build their sales skills.
Arts in the Village Gallery is accepting applications from artists in all media and styles. Our gallery showcases both two dimensional and three dimensional art. We currently offer a variety of art styles and media including ceramics, collage & mixed media, digital artwork, drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, painting, photography, sculpture and wood, and we are open to considering other media as well.
We review and jury applicants monthly, and encourage artists to apply even if there isn’t a current opening; we typically have vacancies over the course of the year, often filled by artists who took the initiative to apply ahead of time.
